Peanut Butter Valentine’s Heart

peanut butter heart truffles

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, if you’re anything like me you’ll have had every intention of getting a lovely, thoughtful gift and then run out of time. These rich and crunchy truffles are the perfect way to say ‘I heart you’ tomorrow.

For these truffles you will need:

  • 100ml double cream
  • 250g milk chocolate
  • 8 tablespoons of crunchy peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 200g of white chocolate
  • A few drops of pink food colouring

I adapted the recipe from the brilliant Lorraine Pascale book Home Cooking Made Easy.

Begin by bringing the cream almost to the boil and then remove it from the heat. Add the chocolate and butter and leave to stand for 8-10 minutes without stirring. Add the peanut butter and pop in the fridge to cool and harden.

Once the mixture is firm, remove from the fridge. Using your hands, roll into balls.

Push the ball through the heart cutter and carefully push it out.

Melt 150g of the white chocolate. Then, using a fork, dip the heart into the melted white chocolate. Leave to set.

Melt the remaining 50g of white chocolate and mix in a few drops of pink food colouring.

Drizzle the pink chocolate over the hearts using a back and forth motion. Once the chocolate has set, break off any uneven chocolate around the bottom. They’re now ready to hand out. Whether you decide to part with them is another matter…!
