We made a batch of these pizza faces when we were struggling to come up with something to feed the kids on one of our weekly meet ups. They’re easy, healthy and good for entertaining tots. We got the girls to help with the faces and they loved it. If you need to you can also conceal vegetables by grating them to make ‘hair’ or blending them into the sauce. You could of course use real pizza bases, but this is great for a speedy alternative when food stocks are running low!
You will need:
- Sliced bread
- Tomato Passata
- Grated cheese
- Olives, pineapple and tomato (for example!)
Begin by putting the toppings into bowls. You could split this into individual pots if your kids are going through a no-I-will-NOT-share phase.
Now toast the bread on both sides and spread passata onto one side. Get the kids to sprinkle grated cheese on top.
Now they can add whichever toppings they like to build their silly faces – here we went for olives, pineapples and a tomato for a smile. You could also add grated carrot/courgette for hair, raisins/peas/cherry tomatoes for eyes, mushrooms/ham/pepparoni for noses, onions/peppers for eyebrows or smiles and even some oregano for freckles (they might not go for that one but you could try!)
