Life in Pictures: Cherry Blossom

I love it when my husband has a day off during the week as it means a day when it’s not just me responsible for two children and therefore a bit like a bonus weekend day. A couple of weeks ago we had such a day and as it was sunny we decided to tick off a place we’ve been wanting to visit for a while – Kew Gardens.  As the cherry blossom walk is in bloom at the moment we went to have a little look around the grounds. One of Harper’s middle names is Blossom, so it was nice to be able to show her what she was named after (OK… she may have slightly been named after the 90’s TV character with that name too!).

Blossom is one of my favourite things full stop. I know this type of shot has been on everyone’s Instagram feeds lately but it does make me happy to look at!

Harper is becoming more and more inquisitive about nature. We’ve been to a few places recently and she’s insisted we actually smell the flowers, inspect the bugs and read all the information signs around (and I mean ALL of them). This is not something I would have done before her so she is teaching me to be more aware of what’s going on around me and that is a lovely thing.

As we went during the week it was really quiet so the kids could have a good run/waddle around and not bump into people. The two of them have become such good friends and it’s lovely to see their blossoming (!) relationship. They seem to really belly laugh together now and even give each other kisses. Most of the time this ends up being the start of a wrestling fight but for the few seconds before I’m telling one of them “don’t sit on his/her head” it’s really sweet.

It was one of those lovely days where the pace of life slowed down a bit and everyone was a bit more easy breezy than normal. We did stay far too late, the buttons slept in the car and then we couldn’t get them to bed but that’s a whole other story!

  1. Such gorgeous photos, the blossom is just so lovely. I have always wanted to go to Kew Gardens too. xx

  2. Oh my the blossom at Kew Gardens is just stunning, I don’t think I’ve seen anywhere with as much since we lived near you. Our lane used to look like someone scattered confetti down it at this time of year. Your photos are delightful and really show off what a lovely day you all enjoyed. Thank you for sharing with me on #CountryKids
