High Street Hack: Embroidered Patches

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but embroidered patches are really big on the High Street at the moment. There doesn’t seem to be an item of clothing that hasn’t had a patch, or two, or three, sewn onto it by clothes shops. I thought I’d have a go at a DIY version for my Buttons. This is not really a tutorial but hey ho!

You will need:

  • A variety of different sized patches (iron on or sew on)
  • Sewing thread to match patches
  • Item of clothing

I did a fair bit of research into where to purchase embroidered patches cheaply and found that the best place to head is the good old Internet. I got this big bag of patches off Ebay ridiculously cheap. The only down side was the long wait for them to arrive. Craft shops such as Hobbycraft have a limited selected too. I got a few from this seller on Etsy. If I was doing this project for myself or another adult, I would have definitely got a few from hello DODO. They’re Brighton locals and I’m a little bit obsessed with everything they sell because it’s hard not to crack a grin at almost everything in their range!

Once all the patches had arrived from various places I spent one long car journey to Norfolk sewing them on. I picked up the matching jumpers from Primark.

There you have it! A simple jumper update. What wasn’t as simple was trying to get these two to both stand against a wall for a photo together!
