It’s been blooming freezing in Brighton recently and I’ve been busy training for the Brighton Half Marathon, so we’ve not been out day-tripping much this year. But as both the kids got bikes recently, we spent the first dry, sunny morning that came along trying to teach them how to ride.
Teaching a child to ride a bike is tricky. I had NO idea how little patience I have and how much my back would ache by the end of our lesson!
We never got the kids balance bikes when they were younger and these bikes don’t have stabilizers so we basically threw them (and us) in at the deep end. Harper really wasn’t sure about the experience to begin with, but after an initial wobble because she couldn’t ride her bike first time (she is such a mini me!) she showed such grit trying to master it.
Grayson on the other hand was more than happy to take his bike for a walk instead of a ride and watch Harper from the stand.
So not the most successful trip but a start on learning to ride. If you need us, we’ll be in the park every weekend until we crack it. I’d love to know how you taught your little one to cycle as I’m clearly clueless!
I kinda like this photo as it looks like she’s flying! She loves pretending to be a tiger and I always seem to be the prey!!
We called it all a day and retired to the cafe after the wind picked up and there were a few too many stumbles for Harper’s liking.
