Kids Craft: Beaded Wands

kids craft - beaded wands

Threading beads onto pipe cleaners is the craft du jour in our houses. It’s so satisfying to watch those fine motor skills getting a workout and it keep Grayson sat still for longer than 3 minutes (which is a record!).

The girls make a lot of bracelets using beads and pipe cleaners and now they stepped it up a notch with beaded wands.

Kids Crafts: Fireworks Spinner

We’ve binned the pumpkins and eaten the remains of the trick of treats sweets so it’s time to  switch our brains to fireworks night.

We recently got a salad spinner so instead of spinning kale and cabbage we put it to excellent use by filling it with paint and glitter to create these Catherine Wheel Spinners.

STOP! Hama (bead) Time! We didn’t realise how much we heart Hama/Picture beads until Hobbycraft asked us to come up with a kids project using them. As our kids love dressing up in regal attire, we came up with an everyday mini crown that Queens (and Kings) can pop down the shops in! As with everything we do, it’s fun and simple to make. Be warned… you’ll be making loads of them to match on their royal outfits! Visit the Hobbycraft blog for our tutorial on how to make them.

We love a good craft challenge. So when Hobbycraft sent us this giant box of craft goodies for kids and asked us to come up with something we emptied the contents onto the table, made a cup of tea and stared at it for a while waiting for inspiration to hit.

We’ve been crafting together for many years now so our tastes seem to have a merged into one! Once we began pulling out bits of craft materials they all seemed to fit together into this rather glam mermaid.

Mini Makers: Clay Plant Pots

mini clay pots final 4

We ❤ air dry clay. But it’s only recently that our kids are starting to enjoy the stuff too (previous attempts haven’t always ended well with our kids either eating the clay or mushing it into their hair). Once you’re out of the toddler zone air dry clay is a fantastic medium for them to play around with – easy to mould, inexpensive, paintable and felt tip pen-able! Hobbycraft asked us to come up with an easy craft for kids using clay, so we decided to make these teeny plant pots, which are ridiculously easy to make with the help of a loo roll tube!
