Like lots of parents, I feel a little overwhelmed at the amount of plastic crap that seems to accumulate in my children’s toy box. Noisy, flashy, plastic crap that no one seems to play with. We try not to buy too much of it, but it seems to build up anyway. When it comes to toys, I would always opt for wooden, even if my kids wouldn’t (avoided a pun there…). They’re solid, durable and usually better for the planet. Plus wooden toys don’t suddenly blurt “I’m Action Chugger” when you’re in bed at night (that one is in the charity bin now, it freaked me out).
Back in October we published a review of the 5 best places to have a quiet cup of tea (okay, quiet may be a stretch!) with little ones in tow in Brighton & Hove. We thought we would give an update on this as lots of lovely new places have since arrived and we have tested them out to see if they pass our two-pram test*. So, read on for our updated, unbiased list of the five best baby-friendly cafes in Brighton & Hove!
It’s not always easy entertaining toddlers on the run and, whilst we don’t want to sit our little ones in front of a screen for hours on end and are by no means endorsing the use of apps over physical interaction, the odd little smartphone app to keep them occupied when all you really want to do is eat that dessert/park the car/have an actual ‘conversation’ can seem like a lifesaver. Previously I’ve struggled to find recommendations on the best apps but now I think I have a good 5 emergency entertainers on my phone, so I thought I’d share them with you.
With Christmas fast (too fast!) approaching, we are starting to think about what to get our Little Buttons. Books are a great gift for kids, but it’s not always easy to know which ones are really good. So we decided to ask some of our favourite parent bloggers to tell us their top children’s book, to give us – and you – a little inspiration.
