My lovely friend Jess had a baby a little while back, so I thought I’d make him a little something. Seen as her little lovely’s middle name is spike… a hedgehog seemed the obvious answer! Look how totally adorable he is, makes my heart go a bit wobbly.

You will need:

  • 1/4m teal cotton canvas
  • 1/4m orange cotton canvas
  • brown embroidery thread
  • toy stuffing
  • template

1. Cut the templates out from the pdf attached. Cut 2 body pieces from the teal canvas. From the orange cut  2 head pieces and 4 ear pieces.

Mini Makers: Paper Plate Animals

I made some paper plate animals with Amelie at the weekend. Normally, when I have a craft in mind for her, I set her up with all the stuff she needs, show her what to do, then use it as an excuse to go and do something else. This time I thought I’d not do that. I’m a bit of a distracted mum sometimes – I try not to be – but my mind wanders and before I know it I’ve agreed to a trip to the zoo at bedtime dressed as Alex the Lion.

Hooray! Valentines is OVER! I know it makes me cynical and grumpy but I reeeeeally am not a fan. I hate the forced romance, the cliches and the commercial pounding. I hate the disappointment and the expectation. It depressed me when I was single and it irritates me now I’m not. So… yup. Maybe I should have a cup of coffee…. that’s an awful lot of hate for a Monday morning. Sorry.

I’ve been looking for a nice night light for Amelie’s room and it seems to me that there isn’t a huge range of nice lamps out there if you’re on a budget. So I thought I’d have a go at bashing my own one together…using a bird box, light bulb, and my dad – to tell me what to do. He tried to show me how to wire a plug (I really should know by now). But I wasn’t really listening because my brain was thinking how to break a birdbox in two in order to get a light bulb inside, so I still don’t know.
