Life in Pictures: The End of Summer

Every Thursday for the past year, we’ve been meeting up for a Little Button hangout. We try to do something fun, unless we’re snowed under with work (when we become multi-tasking masters!), and we’ve of course been documenting it with photos. Now the summer is coming to an end and Amelie starts school in a matter of days, it’s a bit of an end of an era for us.

Back to School Pencil Case

As a little starting school gift, I thought I would make Amelie a little stitched pencil case. I know she probably doesn’t need one yet, but still. I wanted to make it! So here it is. It didn’t take long, with a little evening stitching in front of the box.  I appliqued it with a yellow pencil and stitched her name on. I know, she will probably ditch it very quickly in favour of some Helly Kitty of Frozen crap, but she likes it at the moment!

It’s fascinating to see how things have evolved – M&S has been providing school uniforms for children for over a century! They asked me to talk a little about how my children’s back to school journey has changed to that of my own.

Nap Time Crafts: Sun Print Notebook

Before the summer is out I wanted to try making something with sunography paper. This is paper that is bleached in the sun and leaves a print of what you placed on top. I decided to rope my Little Button and her Grandpa in for this craft project and turn the results into a ‘back to school’-style notebook that would remind me of summer.
