Life In Pictures: Spring So Far

kew gardens blossom - little button diaries

As soon as the sun comes out and Spring hits, I get itchy feet to go and embrace the season and get out of the house. We’ve done just that over the Easter holidays so this week’s Life in Pictures is a little bit of a bumper one!

Our first stop was Kew Gardens to see the blossom. It’s such a cliche to say but it is one of my favourite sights     and it’s somewhere we try to visit a few times a year. I’m not sure if it’s the long drive to get there but one of the kids is always in a grump and this time it was Grayson’s turn.

Life in Pictures: Easter, Farms & Mum Boredom

easter egg hunt 3

This week, like most of the country, we have mostly been stuffing our faces with chocolate. Even as I write this I’ve managed to eat a whole Lindt bunny without even noticing it, bleurgh. I’m at that “just eat it so its gone” phase.

We had a lovely Easter week at my parents, with Egg hunts, ice creams and time hanging out with our littlest cousin. I love watching them all, they’re such good friends. They’re far apart, but couldn’t be closer.

Bunny Rabbit Soaps

bunny soap by little button diaries_9

These cute little bunny soaps make the perfect little gift for Easter. I can’t believe I’ve never made soaps before, they’re so bloomin easy! I always thought it would be complicated and involve tons of ingredients. But it isn’t and it doesn’t. It’s totally craft cheating to be honest, because all you’re doing is melting down an existing block of soap and cutting it into new shapes. I love it! And as I have a thousand cookie cutters the prospects are endless. Mo ha haaa.

Easter Bonnets

DIY easter bonnets by little button diaries

Hobbycraft asked us to come up with some ideas for easy DIY Easter Bonnets that kids can make so we thought we’d share with you what we came up with. Unfortunately we didn’t get to keep any of the makes, which would have been useful for Amelie’s Easter Bonnet day at school which I’ve only just found out about! For the full tutorials go to Hobbycraft’s blog – they’ve got lots of other bonnets on their site too.

Bunny Rabbit Cake

This little bunny rabbit cake is an easy peasy bake. It would have to be, or I wouldn’t have been able to make it! I made it for my little Lilah’s 3rd birthday – because she is totally obsessed with bunnies. There were bunnies everywhere. This would make a fab centrepiece for an Easter Party too I think (check out our little video on throwing an Easter Party on our YouTube channel).

little owl farm 1b

This week we went to stay with the grandparents, meaning lots of cuddles, devoted attention and lie ins for ME. We’ve just got back and everyone feels a bit glum – I wish we lived nearer. And I do like lie ins.

We went to the lovely and hands on Little Owl Farm Park near Worcester. There were some gorgeous little piglets -I may have considered popping one under my arm for a short while (until I saw mummy pig. When did pigs become the same size as cows?!).

Life in Pictures: Easter

lilah bunny

This is my little one’s guilty chocolate face. Parenting laws of chocolate consumption go right out the window at Easter. I love a long weekend!!! Not just because the ratio of parent to child is evened out (quite a lot because of that) but also because we get to have fun without that crappy sunday night feeling. Easter was a bit of a wash-out down here but we made the most of it on our one sunny day with a nice walk and a picnic.

Easter Crafting With Center Parcs

easter crafting with centre parcs

Happy Good Friday!

We are so excited to be teaming up with Center Parcs on some craft projects this Easter. We are HUGE fans of Center Parcs – in fact we’ve been to every Village and we’re going back for more in the summer! Our little ones love it.

We’ve created two nature inspired Easter crafts – some colourful bunny and egg sun catchers for younger ones and a leaf print Easter egg bag for older children.

Giant Carrot Piñata

giant carrot piñata

At the weekend we had a Peter Rabbit party to celebrate Harper’s 3rd birthday. As well as all the usual party games with a bunny twist and shenanigans you get at a toddler’s party, we also had a giant carrot piñata, because quite frankly I’m a big fan of them. The piñata was pretty straightforward to make in a few hours. The hardest part was choosing what to fill it with!

No Bake Easter Slab

easter slab

I am such a sucker for seasonal chocolates. As soon as I see them on the shelves I’m filling my trolley with them. I had got quite an Easter collection already, so thought the best place for them would be in a big old slab of more chocolate. This is a no bake, rocky road type of treat with a lot of Easter goodness on top.

Life In Pictures: Meeting the Easter Bunny

Last week we were invited to go and meet the Easter bunny for breakfast! We were greeted by Alice (of Alice in Wonderland) and sat down to a table decorated with Easter goodies. After a full breakfast, we decorated Easter biscuits and then the Easter bunny arrived with a fluffy rabbit and chocolate for the Buttons. Thank you to Wyevale Garden Centre for having us – we can’t wait to come back and meet Father Christmas!
