Wrapping Paper Christmas Wreath

paper-wreath-garland-final-3

Pinch punch first of the month! We’re very excited that it’s December – we’re a little (though not a lot) more organised this year for Christmas and we are dying to get the decorations up. Starting with this pretty little paper  Christmas Wreath we created for www.dotcomgiftshop.com. It’s made from their wrapping paper, bells and ribbon and even has fairy lights tucked inside so it’s all lovely and twinkly at night. Yey! Hop over to Dot Com’s blog to see how to make it (P.S it’s peasy!).

Make your Own Elf on the Shelf!

diy-elf-on-the-shelf-tutorial-by-little-button-diaries

Would you like to make your own, unique elf on the shelf? This one comes complete with little belled booties and a hat, a bag to store his goodies and a free template to make him super easy to make. Whoop!

It’s not too early to talk about christmas is it? Never! I was in the shops about a month ago  (a MONTH. Now that is too soon!) when I saw the little Elf on the Shelf thing. That thing has got it’s marketing pegged. £30 for a felt/plastic doll and a little book! I do like the idea of a cute little elf that sits happily on your shelf throughout December though, so I thought I would make my own, and share it with you. So you can too. I tried really hard with this one – I wanted him to be special. I hope you like him!

Life in Pictures: Our Christmas Party

little button diaries christmas party 6

As you can probably guess, crafting with the kids is one of our favourite things to do. So we thought it was only right to celebrate the festive season with a Little Buttons Christmas craft party where we all sat happily together and made our own sparkly hats!

These are great for kids to make by the way, make a simple cardboard crown and add two strips of double sided tape around the outside. Then fill the table with things to stick onto it and you have a sticky-fingers-free craft activity!

Easy Geometric Bauble Garland

geometric bauble christmas garland little button diaries

This bauble garland is so easy to make. It’s a little bit of a cheat as the baubles are actually wooden gift tags – but you could easily cut baubles from card and create a similar effect. I went for a traditional Christmas palette of silver, orange, and, erm, hot pink. Mainly because this was a last minute idea and those are the only spray paints I own! Feel free to go down the more rustic look though. You could also use normal paint but spray paints are waaaaaaay more fun and satisfyingly speedy.

Winter Wonderland Chocolate Cake

winter wonderland chocolate cake recipe

With the impeding birth of my second Little Button (due on Christmas Day!), my lovely friends and family have organised various fake Christmas’s throughout December so we don’t miss out on the festivities. To get us in the festive spirit for fake Christmas number one I made this winter wonderland chocolate cake. I used a fail proof chocolate cake recipe by Mary Berry and improvised the filling and topping.

Nap Time Crafts: Button Christmas Tree Decoration

diy button christmas tree decoration

We saw this really lovely craft tutorial on Country Baskets for a simple button tree decoration, so we thought it would make a perfect festive Nap Time Craft.

For this project you will need:

  • An assortment of green buttons in different sizes
  • 1 small yellow button
  • 3 medium-sized red buttons
  • Craft wire
  • Wire cutters/scissors
  • Bakers twine to hang decoration

Begin by cutting your wire. You need to cut it to double the length of your finished tree. You also need a bit extra to tie the decoration at the bottom, and a loop to hang it at the top.
