We love making things with Fimo, we’ve been using the stuff since we were 6 – making clay foods for our dolls house. In fact Amelie still has the burger and chips (which is SO bad) that I made when I was little in her dolls house now. That stuff never breaks! So when Creativity Magazine asked us to come up with 3 fimo jewellery makes – a unicorn brooch, a leaf pendant and a jewellery holder, well obviously we were going to say yay!
I was sitting at my desk this week making a little polymer clay monster – usual Tuesday. I finished my monster and decided to make a few more things – I used to love polymer clay when I was a kid and I would make tons of miniature items for my dolls house. I could spend a whole day making crap out of fimo without a care in the world! So that’s what I did on Tuesday. I used up all my valuable child-free hours making crap out of fimo. And now you can too!
These little cat hair clips are a nice little Halloween make and perfect for kiddies. They’re made from polymer clay which is great for kids as it’s brightly coloured and easy to work with. You could make any shape you like onto a clip, I think I might make a few more of different animals and maybe even a little unicorn…
I’ve always loved fimo, when I was little I used to make tons of toy food and things for my dolls house. But I haven’t really made anything with it as an adult, I’m not sure why. We’ve done a few polymer clay projects for Hobbycraft recently and its reminded me how great the stuff is. It’s easy to work with, solid and waterproof – making it great for jewellery.
Whilst the weather drizzles outside, why not host your own indoor olympics? These medals are super simple to make from gold, silver and bronze fimo and our the perfect craft antidote to the Great British weather. For our tutorial on how to make them, visit the Hobbycraft blog.
