We got a whiff of sunshine and warmer weather yesterday after a totally grey May so far, so after dinner we did a little outdoor crafting in the sun. Harper is a hoarder of leaves, stones, flowers – basically anything she can stuff in her pockets/bag when we’re out. So after going through all her coat pockets we had a nice collection of natural bits and bobs. We threw in some paint and experimented using natural finds as ‘paintbrushes’.
This week’s Instagram challenge on our @get.creative.with account is using Paint Charts/Paint Chips within a craft project. As Harper’s really into playing the game pairs at the moment, we made up our own lollipop version using paint charts. Sorry to Homebase in Brighton for clearing you out of samples!
Today we’re really excited as we’re launching something new over on Instagram called Get Creative With… We’ve teamed up with our craft sister from another mister, Shannon from Oh Creative Day, to start a weekly creative challenge which we’re hoping will be a bit of fun, will help us and you with creative ideas for kids, and will be a way to meet lots of lovely Instagram crafters.
Happy Friday! We thought we’d share a bit more about our latest craft book, The Big Book of 100 Little Activities.
The book is aimed to occupy and entertain little ones. There are 100 projects ranging from spur of the moments crafts and mini projects to do over a few days.
To celebrate the release of the book, we’re hoping to get littles ones (and bigger ones) crafting. We’ve running a little competition over on our Instagram alongside the lovely Oh Creative Day. She’s our Australian craft buddy! To win a copy of the book, all your need to do is share a post showing how you use random bits and pieces around the house to create craft projects. Be sure to tag us @littlebuttondiaries and @ohcreativeday using the hashtag #lbdmakes #thiscreativeday. (Full T&Cs at the bottom of this post)
From a craft must-have and a baby delight to bakers’ treats and a photographers’ bible – here are a few of the things that are bringing sparkle into our lives right now (besides our Little Buttons!)1. I was very excited when Lorraine Pascale released her latest book, A Lighter Way To Bake, last week. I’ve been a fan since her first book and she is my cooking goddess. Her recipes are always inventive and delicious, and this book features versions that are lighter in calories or sugar, so it’s a win-win purchase. I’m already working my way through the book, and have bookmarked most of the recipes to try at a later date.
