Life In Pictures: Our Books

book10

We are so happy to say that our books are available to buy from today! To celebrate, we had a little garden party last week and had fun dressing up in all the projects. We had great fun making these books, and the whole time our little ones had to sit back and watch us make things without being able to touch or play with the projects. That’s painful for a 3 year old! But now they can, and they were so excited about it.

Unicorn Pillow Part 1: Applique

unicorn applique cushion tutorial little button diaries

I have a child who is obsessed with Unicorns. We went to London Zoo a few months ago and on the way there, we were asking her what Animals she most wanted to see. “ummmmm…. unicorns & whales!”, she said. I had to really work hard to persuade her that kangaroos as WAY more exciting than whales. She cried when I said unicorns aren’t real, and I felt so bad.

Asda’s Wooden Princess Castle

george asda wooden toys 2

Like lots of parents, I feel a little overwhelmed at the amount of plastic crap that seems to accumulate in my children’s toy box. Noisy, flashy, plastic crap that no one seems to play with. We try not to buy too much of it, but it seems to build up anyway. When it comes to toys, I would always opt for wooden, even if my kids wouldn’t (avoided a pun there…). They’re solid, durable and usually better for the planet. Plus wooden toys don’t suddenly blurt “I’m Action Chugger” when you’re in bed at night (that one is in the charity bin now, it freaked me out).

Nap Time Crafts: Easy Elsa Hair

elsa hair diy little button diaries final

As the entire population of 2-5 year old girls continue to completely idolize Princess Elsa (If you don’t know who that is… You can just stop reading now, the rest of this post will mean zip to you!), my own little girl is well and truly on the Frozen bandwagon. She has the dress, the crown, and some shoes that we made (have a look at them here). So I thought I would complete the look by making some white locks.

Nap time crafts: Polymer Princesses

For another project, I’ve recently been making a lot of very cute and girly things that I haven’t been able to give to Amelie. It’s made me feel so bad, she comes into my craft room (I say craft room, I’ve basically stolen the conservatory and renamed it. Anyone else find that craft stuff seems to just breed?!), she gets all excited and I have to quickly remove her from the area before she creates damage. So I decided to make her some little princesses from fimo. I gave her some lumps too (small ones, this stuff is expensive!) and she made some grotesque looking warped princesses too.

Do I Really Have a 3 Year Old?

Blimey, apparently I do! Amelie turned 3 on Tuesday (happy sad face). We celebrated with a little joint party with her friend Robin. They had a lovely day and the sun even decided to put his hat on, hip hip hip hooray.

So I have a 3 year old. I’m sitting here trying to think of something to say that isn’t a massive cliche, and I’m struggling. Its all true, I can’t say it another way. Time does fly, things do change without you noticing. That tiny little baby is a big, pant-wearing, sentence-forming girl and it has come out of nowhere. I’m terrified I’ll blink and she’ll be a teenager, how do I slow it down! Note to self: Start treasuring every single moment…
