When I was pregnant, I decided I’d make a quilt for my new Little Button. As I’d never attempted a quilt on this scale before I took to the Internet for help. I knew I wanted to do something modern and gender-neutral and this tutorial was exactly what I had in mind.

I opted for greys and yellows with a black and white polka dot backing because babies love high-contrast fabrics.

Along with a group of other bloggers we had to design and make a 12″ quilt square, sew it onto the last person’s square and pass the quilt onto the next blogger. The #CrafttheParcel challenge, as it’s called, is a fun way to meet new crafty bloggers and try out a new postal service.

Patchwork Camera Strap Tutorial

Our latest post for Hobbycraft is now live, hoorah! This month we decided to make something for our long-suffering cameras. We’re so snap happy – our cameras are always with us and they get a lot of bashing about, flung into the nappy bag with all manner of baby junk. We wanted to create a cover for the strap to personalise our cameras, one that can be removed for washing! This is a nice easy project and a great way to use up scraps of fabric.

Spiral Quilted Baby Blanket

With my endless piles of fabric scraps and impending due date peeping round the corner (yikes, where has it come from… I’m so unprepared), I decided to settle down and do a little relaxing evening sewing by making a baby quilt for little button number two. I’ve never quilted anything before, and I wasn’t really sure how to do it! But I learned from my mistakes as I made this blanket and was happy with the outcome.
